In August 2017, the EXTREME MODEL RAILROAD AND CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE MUSEUM submitted its MassWorks Grant Application for infrastructure and remediation on its adjacent new site. The application makes a very compelling case for the project, in the context of an overall vision for the rebirth of North Adams. It can be viewed in its entirety here, including not just the site preparation applied for, but the EMRCA Flipbook Introduction, the Heritage Park Masterplan, and an independent analysis of the overall project’s economic impacts. While the entire North Adams redevelopment plan is a private, for-profit endeavor that does not look for government funding, the site work requested in this grant would be necessary for any redevelopment of this currently city-owned property.
